Take the right fork to a parking area with toilets. The Peninsula Trail leaves from the restrooms. Follow the narrow trail to the right of the small pond. Continue into the trees and turn left, continuing for about a quarter mile to the end the peninsula. Here the views are of the south bay of Shadow Mountain Reservoir, the dam (to the east) and the islands to your left (north). The islands are part of a glacial moraine, left when the last glaciers retreated. Osprey are visible on their nests.
