Elevation: 14,130 feet, or 4,307 meters!

The top of the road is a rejuvenating experience for the spirit and mind. The scenery, animals and history will blow you away! If you take the trail to the summit of Mount Evans, 14,264 feet, you can see most of the Continental Divide in Colorado. From the parking lot, Longs Peak, Denver, Pikes Peak and Mt. Bierstadt are all visible. Mountain goats lick minerals in the area and wander around the magnificent ruins of the Crest House restaurant and souvenir shop, which burned down in 1979. A close-up look at the highest observatory in North America is only a short walk away from the parking lot. Take it all in at the top. Forest Service interpretive rangers are stationed throughout the recreation area to answer questions and deliver natural and cultural history programs. Look for signs and flyers advertising program times and locations.
