409 Mount Evans Wilderness

Congress defines wilderness as “an area where the Earth and its communities of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is just a visitor.” The Mount Evans Wilderness in Arapaho and Pike National Forests surrounds the recreation area. Please be aware that special regulations apply when occupying wilderness areas. Dogs must be leashed. Do not feed wildlife. Do not shortcut trail switchbacks in designated wilderness. Camping within 100 feet of trails, lakes, or streams is prohibited in designated wilderness.
